Parent Mentors Launch into the 2023-2024 School Year

This year is off to a great start, and our Parent Mentors are busy working to support families and schools across the state of Ohio. Parent Mentors are uniquely positioned to support families of students with disabilities. They are raising, or have raised, children with disabilities receiving special education supports along the educational pathway.

We know that Parent Mentors have already been active in their communities and districts, participating in resource fairs, planning fun fall events, meeting with families, and committing to their own professional growth. Parent Mentors across the state interact on a regular basis with each other at regional and county events designed to equip them, support their learning needs, inform them of updates, and overall to make them a better resource for the families and students they serve.

We’ve enjoyed bringing Parent Mentors together monthly to allow for connection in new ways. Parent Mentors have hosted each other in their own spaces to collaborate, share resources, and build relationships.
